Are you worried about your level of competitiveness given that you’re the oldest contestant?

I didn’t realize until they announced the lineup that I was the oldest contestant by 11 years! So I’m hoping to corner the market on the AARP vote.

Be honest, did you do this to lose weight?

That was just a pleasant side effect. I did it to have fun, but now the competitive spirit has kicked in. I’ve been training really hard and already dropped more than twenty pounds, so at the least, maybe I’ll be “The Biggest Loser”. But who watches NBC anyway?

The 62-year-old ultraconservative politico said he’s ready for some of the show’s signature costumes.

“I lost 20 pounds, so I can wear the tight pants,” DeLay boasted. “I’ve known I was going to do Dancing With the Stars for three months now, so the moment I agreed to do it, I started working out really hard and heavy.”

DeLay, 62, nattily attired in a navy blue polo shirt and matching stretch pants, is seen twirling his partner and practicing the tango. Burke, wearing black tights and a bright blue top with a plunging neckline, looks relaxed and fluid as she teaches the veteran Texas pol some dance-floor moves.
